DAY 1: Arrive Hoedspruit

Check into the luxurious Bushwillow Private Villa on the gorgeous Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate that’s home to a variety of wildlife including giraffe, zebra, a variety of antelope species and even leopard and hyena! 

Hoedspruit is South Africa’s wildlife and safari capital, with a host of exciting activities, things to see and do and incredible scenery on its doorstep. Located at the foot of the northern Drakensberg Escarpment on the edge of the Kruger National Park, this is the perfect place from which to explore one of South Africa’s most beautiful regions.

Bushwillow Private Villa is an exclusive-use, three-bedroom luxury villa that can sleep six people in absolute comfort. With sumptuous décor and a sensational safari vibe, the inside/outside lounge area enjoys views over the surrounding bush where you can see a variety of wildlife and birds. A small splash pool is perfect for cooling off in and a boma is where you can enjoy sundowners around a crackling fire.

DAY 2: At leisure in Hoedspruit

DAY 3: At leisure in Hoedspruit

Whether you choose to get up early and head into the Kruger Park for the day or go on a morning game drive in a nearby private reserve, encountering the Big Five iconic wildlife species in their natural habitat is an absolute must during your stay.

So let us know if you’d like us to arrange a full-day Kruger safari or morning or afternoon game drives. 

At the end of the day, there’s nothing better than dinner out by the pool under the stars or maybe eat out at one of Hoedspruit’s wonderful restaurants.

DAY 4: Hoedspruit to the Klaserie

After a wonderful home-cooked breakfast it’s time to say farewell to Bushwillow Private Villa and Hoedspruit and head out to the Klaserie Private Game Reserve and the beautiful Baobab Ridge safari lodge – your home for the next two nights.

This gorgeous luxury lodge is located in some of the best game viewing territory in South Africa, alongside the renowned Timbavati private game reserve with open borders to the Kruger National Park. With its spacious guest villas overlooking the wilderness, wonderful pool deck with views out over the Klaserie wilderness and cozy boma where dinners are served under the stars, Baobab Ridge is renowned for its family friendly atmosphere and down-to-earth safari experience.

Once you have checked in and made yourself at home, you’ll enjoy high tea on the dining deck overlooking the gardens before heading out on your afternoon/evening game drive. You’ll stop for sundowners somewhere in the bush when you’ll have the chance to stretch your legs and raise a glass to the setting sun before spending time exploring the bush after dark with your guide using a spotlight to locate nocturnal species.

You’ll return to the lodge in time for dinner around a crackling log fire in the boma, wondering at the array of twinkling stars above you as you share the day’s adventures over a sumptuous home-cooked three-course dinner accompanied by the best South African wines.

Overnight: Baobab Ridge

DAY 5: Baobab Ridge

You’ll wake up shortly before dawn and meet your guide at the dining deck for coffee and rusks before heading out into the Klaserie for a morning game drive. The bush is full of activity in the early morning with lots of  fresh tracks from the previous night for your guide to follow. A mid-morning coffee stop gives you the chance to stretch your legs and enjoy homemade cookies and muffins washed down with a choice of tea, coffee or hot chocolate. 

You’ll return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast before having some time to relax, kick back and enjoy the lodge facilities. Sunbathe up on the pool deck, take a dip in the sparkling pool, relax in a recliner with a good book or enjoy your private verandah with a bottle of fine wine – the choice is yours. Alternatively, take a rare siesta surrounded by the peace and tranquility of the African bush!

High tea will be served on the dining deck overlooking the gardens before you head out on your afternoon/evening game drive. You’ll return to the lodge in time for dinner and another sensational night under the African stars. Try some stargazing with your guide or just sit back and enjoy the sounds of night in the wilderness.

Overnight: Baobab Ridge

DAY 6: Time to leave

Wake up early for a last morning game drive or choose to sleep late – it’s up to you! After your wonderful breakfast on the dining deck it will be time to say goodbye to Baobab Ridge and head home or on to your next destination.
