You've arrived! It's touch down at last on South African soil and your safari adventure is formally under way... So what can you expect? If you are catching an internal flight you need to clear immigration, collect your bags and make your way to the domestic departures terminal for your onward journey.
Some airlines allow bags to be checked to your final destination, so please check with your airline to see if this is possible before you leave home. If you are hiring a car you'll need to make your way to the hire companies which are close at hand at both OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg and Cape Town International Airport.
We'll be on hand to greet you on arrival at your lodge and to get you settled in, so relax and enjoy the journey!
Once you've settled in, it's up to you to decide how to spend your time. You'll most likely want to spend your first day getting your bearings and exploring your immediate surroundings.
If you're including Cape Town in your itinerary, it's advisable to spend a couple of full days exploring Cape Town itself, starting at the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront and taking in the sights and sounds of South Africa's "Mother City". A trip up Table Mountain, riding the state-of-the-art cableway is an absolute must, as is a visit to the amazing Two Oceans Aquarium. We also recommend taking a township tour, which we can arrange for you, and exploring the nearby Winelands, sampling the Cape's finest vintages as you go.
There's a host of amazing restaurants, activities and things to do and see in the Cape, so all you have to do is ask and we can tailor things to suit your schedule. It's important to find time to just sit and relax at your chosen accommodation as well, and just soak up the views and ambience.
If you're heading into the bush, then game activities are top of the itinerary! Most inclusive safari lodges include game activities with morning and afternoon game drives on offer. In the Greater Kruger there are also lots of additional game activities that can be arranged for you, including full-day drives in the legendary Kruger National Park and guided game and birding walks.
There's a wide range of exciting activities close at hand in the Greater Kruger region and beyond, from exploring historic Pilgrim's Rest to discovering the geological wonders of Bourke's Luck Potholes and the breathtaking views along the Panorama Route, that skirts the edge of the Drakensberg escarpment. We are happy to recommend things to do and arrange day trips and activities for you.
